When the NBA’s Kevin Love had a panic attack on the court, in the middle of a game, he knew it was a wake up call. All his life he’d used basketball as an escape from debilitating anxiety and depression, and it had finally caught up to him. In the aftermath, he forged a new path that led not only to his healing journey, but to a new calling as a mental health advocate. he first step was being open about the darkness that dominated his mind, and encouraging others to share their stories, be vulnerable, and understand they’re not alone.
